Σχετικά

A dramatic zig-zag cove squeezed between sheer cliffs on the Akrotiri peninsula.

Seitan Limania, the "Devil's harbours", is a narrow fjord-like cove on the Akrotiri peninsula east of Chania. High rock walls rise on both sides and the tiny pebble beach at the end of the inlet is no wider than a few metres. The water is an intense turquoise colour and drops off quickly, so it is a great spot for a swim and some snorkelling, but less suited to young children.

You park at the top and walk down a steep, rocky path that takes about 10 minutes. Good shoes help a lot, as the rocks are slippery and there is no shade on the way. There are no facilities at the bottom at all, so bring water and something to eat.

Because the cove is so small, it fills up fast. Arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the sun has dropped behind the cliffs and most people have left. On windy days with a north wind, waves can roll straight into the inlet, so check the forecast first.

Γύρω από Χανιά

The west of Crete is the island at its most dramatic. Chania has the most beautiful Venetian old town on Crete, wrapped around a harbour with a lighthouse and a domed mosque. In the evening the narrow lanes of Splantzia and the old Jewish quarter fill up with tavernas and small bars. Περισσότερα για Χανιά
