Avlaki Beach

Agios Nikolaos, Lasithi ·North coast

About

A small pebble cove near Vrachasi, between Sissi and Milatos.

Avlaki is a charming little pebble beach in a quiet spot.

The village of Vrachasi, on the hill above, has a traditional folk house museum. The Selinari gorge and its monastery are nearby.

Vrachasi is a traditional village on the hills above the coast, with well preserved houses and wide views over the valley. The coast below has small, rocky coves such as Avlaki, reached by short paths. The Selinari gorge, with its monastery, and the resort of Sissi are close by.

Agios Nikolaos is the capital of Lasithi, built around a lake and a harbour on the beautiful Mirabello gulf. The area includes Elounda, Plaka and the island of Spinalonga to the north, and Kritsa, Lato and the Katharo plateau in the hills behind. The coast has many small beaches and calm bays, and the town is lively in the evening with cafes and restaurants around the lake. Boats leave for Spinalonga and trips around the bay.
