A remote fishing village beach below the Asterousia mountains, deep clear water for snorkelling.

Treis Ekklisies (three churches) is named after the three chapels in the area. The village is small and remote, with a big beach of coarse sand surrounded by rocks and greenery. The water is deep and crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling, and you find a few cafes, tavernas and rooms.

Treis Ekklisies, "three churches", takes its name from three Byzantine chapels built in the area in the 14th century. The village sits at the foot of the Asterousia mountains on the Libyan Sea, about 65 km south of Heraklion, and the drive down through the mountains is spectacular.

The beach is a long stretch of coarse sand and pebbles with deep, very clear water that's perfect for snorkelling. There are a few tavernas and rooms in the village. It's a great base for walks in the Asterousia, to the Koudoumas monastery or the hidden coves along the coast.

Heraklion is the heart of Minoan Crete and the island’s busiest region. Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are the two places almost everyone visits, and they work well together on one day. In the south, the wide Messara plain holds the palace of Phaistos, the Roman ruins of Gortyna and the famous caves above the bay of Matala. Περισσότερα για Ηράκλειο
