Agios Georgios (Lasithi)

Lasithi Plateau, Lasithi

About

The second largest village on the Lasithi plateau, at about 840 m.

Agios Georgios is a farming village on the southern side of the Lasithi plateau, with a folklore museum. The E4 European path passes through it, and it is a starting point for walks up into the Dikti mountains.

Around Lasithi Plateau

Lasithi, the eastern end of Crete, is quieter and greener than you might expect. Agios Nikolaos wraps around a small lake and a lively harbour, with cafés on the water and beaches within walking distance. Just north, Elounda and Plaka look across to the fortress island of Spinalonga, one of the most moving places on the island. More about Lasithi
