About

Two quiet bays just east of Tsoutsouros, sandy, clear and nudist friendly.

Krassas is made up of two small bays, each with its own little sandy beach, about 500 metres east of Tsoutsouros. There are no sunbeds, just trees for shade and very clear light blue water. A local legend says the tomb of King Minos is buried under the sand. Sea turtles nest here from May to the autumn.

The water is clear and good for snorkelling, and the beaches are naturist friendly. Loggerhead turtles sometimes nest here too. Tsoutsouros, with its tavernas, is a short walk away.

Minoa Pediadas is the farming heartland of central Crete, a land of vineyards, olive groves and villages east of Heraklion. Kasteli is the main town, and the new airport of Crete is being built nearby. The area has many Byzantine churches with frescoes, the ruins of ancient Lyttos and quiet villages where tourists are rare. It's a good area for discovering the everyday life of rural Crete.

Heraklion is the heart of Minoan Crete and the island’s busiest region.
