Agia Irini Monastery (Kroussonas)
A mountain convent on the slopes of Psiloritis.
Churches & monasteries · Malevizi
Large mountain village at the foot of Psiloritis, west of Heraklion.
Krousonas lies at about 430 m on the northern slopes of the Psiloritis range. It is known for its music and lively village life, and the Agia Irini monastery is just above it.
Heraklion is the heart of Minoan Crete and the island’s busiest region. Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are the two places almost everyone visits, and they work well together on one day. In the south, the wide Messara plain holds the palace of Phaistos, the Roman ruins of Gortyna and the famous caves above the bay of Matala. More about Heraklion
