Mountain village famous for spring water and trout.

A small spring lake with a trout taverna.
Lake Votomos is a small spring lake at the edge of the village of Zaros, on the southern slopes of Psiloritis. The water comes from springs in the mountain, and it's crystal clear.
The lake is surrounded by trees, with ducks and geese. A taverna by the lake serves fresh trout from local fish farms. From the lake, a path leads up to the monastery of Agios Nikolaos and the Rouvas gorge.
The lake is small but charming, with clear water from the springs of Zaros, the same water that's bottled and sold all over Greece. The taverna by the lake breeds trout, a rare dish in Crete. It's a lovely place for lunch after visiting Vrontisi monastery or walking in the Rouvas gorge.
Heraklion is the heart of Minoan Crete and the island’s busiest region. Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum are the two places almost everyone visits, and they work well together on one day. In the south, the wide Messara plain holds the palace of Phaistos, the Roman ruins of Gortyna and the famous caves above the bay of Matala. Περισσότερα για Ηράκλειο
